At Love is Key, we foster our clinicians to prioritize work/life balance, as well as receive training to assist them in specializing and honing their clinical skills, as well as reflecting on transference and countertransference, as it occurs in the therapy space.

Supervision

We provide consultation and supervision to pre-licensed counselors and licensed clinicians who want to continue to engage in ongoing development. Love is Key Counseling LLC provides an environment for therapists to reflect on their practice, gain new insights, and engage in supervision that is racially conscious, as well as systems focused. We aim to honor the strengths and experiences that supervisees bring and welcome their feedback into the process. Supervision is conducted by experienced, licensed clinicians who are dedicated to guiding therapists through the complexities of the work and committed to dismantling harmful systemic oppression.

Individual Supervision: Tailored one-on-one sessions focused on your specific cases and professional development needs.

Group Supervision: Collaborative sessions that provide diverse perspectives, and foster peer support among therapists.

Consultation Group: Peer support for therapists who want to dig deeper or obtain specific professional development needs.

Training

Workshops and Seminars: Interactive sessions led by our team members in various therapeutic approaches, offering foundational knowledge and advanced skills. Our most recent workshop focused on women's wellness and healing but we offer training in various mental health topics.

How It Works

01. “Good Fit” Consultation (10-15 min.)

This is a chance for us to meet briefly before starting therapy to decide if we are a good fit for one another. This call is for you to get a feel of the therapist’s personality and for us to find out a little bit about you. We will ask about your pronouns, location, and goals, availability, insurance information, your questions, and discuss next steps for us to schedule.

02. Preparing for the First Session

Between consultation and the first session, we will run a complimentary benefits check to ensure we are in network and provide you with the results via email. We outsource our billing to DAS Billing company and will ask for demographics, contact information and insurance information.

To prepare for your first session, be kind to yourself, think about why you’re coming to therapy, give therapy a few tries, and advocate for yourself. Bring water, any comfort items and be as honest as possible. We are here to help and want to make sure you get what you need.

03. First Session

Our first session, we will get to know each other, review consents, expectations and documentation, as well as attempt to gain an understanding of if we can provide what you are looking for in therapy. We will ask about a lot of different areas of your life, but you can always decline to talk about anything you don’t want to. We will also provide some education about counseling, our approach, and mental health as a whole.

For a deeper dive into what you can expect from therapy, see this article.

04. Continuing Support

We will decide together the best frequency for sessions (i.e. weekly or biweekly) and your goals to work on. Depending on the person, we will provide things to think about between sessions or materials to read. Building trust takes time, and if there is anything that will help you feel more able to do so, please communicate that with us. Being open, honest and candid as you can be, the better equipped that makes us to support you.

Our ongoing sessions will be collaborative and look different for different people, with varying goals. We will likely work to identify your strengths, areas of growth, ask you to reflect, and learn new strategies for managing challenges, practice caring for yourself and others, develop or utilize your support network, monitor progress, practice skills, communicate and discuss how the environments we operate in, impact mental health as a whole and how love fits into your life.

05. Maintenance

Therapy can last for varying lengths of time, depending on the client, goals, and approach. We will complete treatment plan reviews every 3-4 months to discuss feedback, how things are going, and adjust as necessary. With this, as your therapist and you decide, you may decrease sessions to monthly or as needed.
